It was widely reported today that Israel is attacking hospitals in Gaza where women and children are seeking refuge, particularly al-Shifa hospital, where babies were removed from incubators today due to a lack of electricity, and now they are dying.
Premature babies die as Gaza’s al-Shifa hospital loses power amid alleged IDF attacks
At least two babies have died in Gaza’s largest hospital as a result of a power outage as Israel allegedly continues shelling the al-Shifa hospital, several sources said on Saturday.
“As a result of the lack of electricity, we can report that the neonatal intensive care unit has stopped working. Two premature babies have died and there is a real risk to the lives of another 37 premature babies,” Physicians for Human Rights Israel said in a statement, describing al-Shifa hospital as “besieged”.
“The picture we are seeing now in Shifa is no longer a humanitarian catastrophe, it is a collective death sentence,” the group of Israeli doctors added.
Dr. Mohammed Obeid, a Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) surgeon working out of the hospital, shared a smiling account, according to a recording released by the aid group.
“We have two newborn patients who actually died because the incubator doesn’t work because there’s no electricity,” he said. “We can see the smoke around the hospital. They hit everything around the hospital. And they went to the hospital many times.” (Full article.)

Billionaires discuss $50 million media blitz on Hamas
Wall Street and Hollywood billionaires have discussed a plan in recent weeks to spend up to $50 million on a media campaign to “define Hamas to the American people as a terrorist organization.”
Billionaire real estate mogul Barry Sternlicht launched the campaign in the days after the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel and, in an email seen by Semafor, asked for donations of $1 million each from dozens of the world’s richest people business
He wrote that he had had “a great conversation” about the effort with CNN owner David Zaslav, and that Endeavor CEO and talent agent Ari Emanuel had agreed to coordinate the campaign, though the Spokesmen for both men said they are not now involved.
The campaign would aim to “distinguish between anti-Semites and the Palestinian situation,” he wrote, as US and global media increasingly focus coverage on the deaths in Gaza, potentially eroding sympathy and support for Israel.
“Public opinion is sure to change as the scenes, real or fabricated by Hamas, of Palestinian civilian suffering are sure to erode. [Israel’s] current empathy in the global community,” he wrote. “We must advance the narrative.”
The email was sent to more than 50 household names, including media mogul David Geffen, investors Michael Milken and Nelson Peltz, and tech luminaries Eric Schmidt and Michael Dell.
