January 2022 – Election Campaign promises of Labor’s Anthony Albanese: Albanese promised in January 2022, ahead of the federal election, to hold a “royal commission or some form of inquiry” into the country’s handling of COVID-19 – REF, & May 2022 REF

During the election campaign in May [2022], Albanese told reporters: “I support looking at it through a measure like a royal commission. We haven’t finalised what the structure would be.”

December 15, 2021 – BBC: Ex-High Court judge Baroness Hallett to chair Covid inquiry – appointed by Boris Johnson – READ
